Dementia Actif Gwynedd are staging a special event in collaboration with the North Wales Police and Betsi Cadwalader University Health Board to celebrate Tywyn achieving recognition as a Dementia Friendly Community. A group of local people led by staff member Rachael Roberts, set up a streering group to raising awareness about dementia and how to support individuals, groups, businesses & shops to create environments that makes it easier for people affected to continue to live well in their community. The group came up with an action plan which was presented to the North Wales Regional Partnership Dementia Friendly Communities Scheme and were successful in recieving the recognition in March 2025.
One of the tasks in the action plan was to organise an event to help raise awareness about dementia. Here’s the event:
Title : Living Better with Dementia in North Wales - Film and Q&A
Venue : Magic Lantern Cinema, 6A Corbet Square, Tywyn LL36 9DF
Day & Date : Friday 16th May 2025.
Time : Doors open at 11am, film starts at 11:30am
Admission is free and refreshments are included.
The film will be followed by a question-and-answer discussion of policing and health issues which may affect people living with dementia or their families.
