And that's the end of the Gwynedd Virtual Dementia Tour...for now!
The bus went on tour all over Gwynedd including Caernarfon, Dolgellau, Bangor, Criccieth, Aberdovey and Blaenau Ffestiniog. 156 people (including unpaid carers, families, care staff etc) experienced what living with dementia can be like.
Dementia Actif Gwynedd would like to thank all the attendees, the venues for the welcome (Byw'n Iach Arfon, Byw'n Iach Glan Wnion, Bangor Dementia Centre & CADR, Criccieth Dementia Hub, Neuadd Dyfi and Y Dref Werdd), to the trainers for their expertise, their professionalism and empathy, and to the Training2Care company who are responsible for the training, and for raising awareness about dementia throughout the United Kingdom.
Here are some quotes from the week-
- "I would like to say big thank you for allowing me to attend the virtual dementia tour today. I didn’t really know what to expect and was a little bit apprehensive, but I have come away feeling empowered to help my mother on her dementia journey. You were all so kind, helpful and informative and your smiley faces were a joy to see and gave me encouragement" - family member
- "An extremely stimulating experience that certainly gave everyone food for thought. It seemed that everyone got something different from the hands on experience and the observation. The post discussion was enlightening with many picking up nougats of knowledge and information that they could use in their respective roles. For me, I'm now much more conscious and aware of everything I do around my husband. Everyone in a caring role should experience this" - family member
